Description

Form follows climate and environment. Workspaces face south with a glass façade toward a courtyard. In winter all desks are fully naturally lit. Only one window is cut into the backbone in order to catch the marvellous sunset. The entrance, which is cut into a hill, leads into the two-storey lobby of the hovering office area. Similar to the command structure, all offices are on the same level. The use of fabric in combination with concrete makes the space more comfortable and absorbs noise.

Statement of the jury

With its dynamically-sloped sides and the distinctive cut-outs in its foundation, the architecture looks very sculptural, giving it an unmistakable identity. The large glass front has been very well executed. An intelligent concept with a high-quality aesthetic that shows what is possible when local weather conditions are simply accepted and consistently taken into consideration in the planning process.
