Sir Paul Hotel Limassol
Description
Sir Paul Hotel is set in a restored listed traditional building, a two-storey boutique hotel with a courtyard in the Old Town of Limassol. The owners wanted to offer the town a meeting point for all its residents. Respecting and amplifying the significance of its traditional elements was of paramount importance. The newly created space had to abolish the defensive character of Neoclassical shells and instigate interaction between the public realm and the enclosed courtyard without compromising.
Statement of the jury
The building’s characteristic arches define the architectural style and make the rooms appear elegant and generous when combined with the high-quality inventory and its traditional stylistic elements, the mirrors and the indirect lighting. At the same time, the juxtaposition of old historic masonry and modern white plaster creates an interesting contrast. The integration of the courtyard into the design is also nicely done.
