Lyons Garden

Description

Lyons Garden was built next to the ocean in Playa Blanca Zihuatanejo, a remote but renowned area on the south western coast of Mexico. Lyons Garden is conceived as an architectural concept based on a traditional Mexican courtyard style. The heart of the project is a central garden that represents a sculptural element in itself due to the play of shapes constructed on geometric lines.

Statement of the jury

The single-storey volume forms an open inner courtyard to one side. The typical pillar-based construction is evident above all in the long central portico, which protrudes clearly from the rest of the roof and elegantly connects the volumes with one another. An impressive concept where light becomes a creative element.
