Monomer House

Description

Monomer House 1 is a collaborative project initiated by A D Lab to find a leaner and more sustainable solution for building design and construction. It tests the possibility of light-weight, pre-fabricated, pre-finished modular assemblies that can be customised like life-size LEGO blocks and can be erected rapidly into many different building types, forms and sizes. The easy assembly method of dry construction allows the building to be quickly erected in a wide variety of conditions.

Statement of the jury

The idea of simply placing completely pre-prepared living space modules onto existing buildings on request, has been formally and technically implemented here in an intelligent way. This is a modular system that is individually adaptable and can be flexibly integrated into many different types of buildings.
