Description

We had the idea of extending the picturesque Ammerseehaus, formerly a typical settler house from the 1930s. We placed a wooden deck on the upper ceiling supports, which was structurally possible thanks to the building’s solid masonry. In order to more than double the office space, the wooden surface projects over the lower floor – and on the eastern side facing the lake, it widens into a large, expansive loggia with an inclined floor area.

Statement of the jury

Through the skilful addition of another story, the original building’s 30s-style architecture gains a new quality. The result is not only a significant increase in interior space, but an elegant concept as a whole that blends both formally and harmoniously through the large proportion of wood used, into the beautiful landscape and the regional context.
