Chengdu Aerospace Superalloy Technology Office and Factory Buildings

Description

The project is located in Tianfu New Area, Chengdu, inside the Southwest Airport Economic Development Zone. The site still retains the forestry structure unique to Chengdu Plain. The forestry structure is formed mostly by agricultural lands and fish ponds with small settlements and forests scattered in-between. Due to that, our design focuses on how to meet the restricted sloping and elevation requirements within the project. We also try to preserve most of the unique landform and topography.

Statement of the jury

The way the building snuggles into the topography of the landscape despite its dimensions was impressively realised. In addition, the combination of wood and concrete produces interesting contrasts and endows the building, above all on the inside, with a pleasant atmosphere.
