Details

The new fire station for the Frankenberg (Eder) volunteer fire brigade features a functional basic structure, complemented by gold-coloured accents. These accents provide orientation and structure to the building, but above all, the chosen colour honours the voluntary commitment and makes it visible within the cityscape. The ground floor of the two-storey building houses parking spaces for 13 emergency vehicles, a wash hall, changing rooms, workshops, as well as technical and storage rooms. The upper floor accommodates the operations centre, training and administration rooms.

The Jury‘s Statement

Golden accents give this fire station a strong presence in the urban landscape, while subtly and impressively honoring the commitment of the crew. The clear zoning and consistently barrier-free design create a harmonious interplay of functionality and aesthetics. Especially remarkable is the combination of a sustainable material concept with a distinctive, identity-forming façade.
