Details
The i8 in Munich's Werksviertel district sets new standards for holistic architecture: Munich's first timber hybrid office building combines sustainability, user experience and architectural quality. Around 1,700 m³ of BauBuche bind 2,300 tonnes of CO₂, while the façade made of recycled aluminium and LEED Platinum certification underline the ecological claim. Inside and out, wood shapes the atmosphere, well-being and identity. With its contemporary design by C.F. Møller and full occupancy upon completion, the i8 demonstrates that sustainable architecture is ecologically, economically and culturally convincing – a holistic user experience.
The Jury‘s Statement
A subtle yet consistent choice of materials creates a distinctive atmosphere in »i8« that harmoniously links sustainability and well-being. The design language impresses with clarity and expressive power, while the use of recycled materials provides a striking statement for responsible architecture. Particularly impressive is how a holistic user experience is combined here with aesthetic and ecological excellence at the highest level.
