Details

A total of 10 Midnightsky-Chalets (8 + 2 barrier-free) are situated in a forest clearing next to the IKUNA Nature Resort, accommodating up to 5 people each. The unique design was inspired by wood logs chaotically stacked at the forest edge. Using a double-shell concept (inner structure of cross-laminated timber and outer insulation of wooden studs), the very short construction time of 5 months was achieved, with the shell erected in just 2.5 days. The goal was to make the material wood tangible and experiential for guests, creating an ideal design experience for slow tourism.

The Jury‘s Statement

The ‘LibertydotHome starry sky chalets’ embody a successful symbiosis of nature and architecture by emphasising wood as a tangible and perceptible element for guests, and are therefore very much in line with the concept of decelerated tourism. One highlight is the glazed panoramic roof, which provides a fantastic view of the night sky and contributes to a special holiday experience.
