Details

For three years, Fabian Lang searched the Swiss Alps, archives, and open-source catalogues for extraordinary data and imagery. With support from experts in climatology, cartography, and glaciology, he turned this material into visual stories for a wide audience. The result is a 200-page book filled with infographics on topics like GPS-tracked bearded vultures, the past and future of major glaciers, mountain biodiversity based on 30,000 sightings, human-wolf coexistence, climate change, gender (in)equality, energy transition, Swiss cartography, and the distribution of surnames by elevation.

The Jury‘s Statement

The exceptionally precise visualization of complex interrelations gives »Schweizer Bergwelten« impressive relevance. This work impresses with its confident blend of data, infographics, and photography, making topics like climate, flora, and coexistence visible. Especially outstanding is the harmonious design, which makes knowledge accessible and emotionally tangible—a gold-worthy example of design excellence in book form.
