Details
"Symbiosis in Form" is a sculptural table and stool set that merges reclaimed wood with mycelium, a biodegradable material grown from sawdust waste. This project transforms discarded materials into functional, aesthetically compelling objects, highlighting the symbiosis between nature and design. The base, sculpted from recycled lumber, contrasts with the mycelium tops, creating a striking interplay of textures. By utilizing sustainable materials, the project promotes a circular economy, where waste is repurposed, and mycelium, a carbon-negative material, decomposes naturally, emphasizing eco-conscious design.
The Jury‘s Statement
The sculptural design of the Mycelium Tables makes a powerful statement for sustainability. By innovatively combining recycled wood and biodegradable mycelium, it creates a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics, effectively embodying the concept of a circular economy.
