Unwanted furniture! is a catalogue and an exhibit, designed by OpenDot for AMSA-A2A Group to raise awareness among citizens about furnishings’ reuse. Furniture is discarded for functional or aesthetic reasons. However, much of it does not need to become waste and can be fixed, refurbished or transformed into new objects. Unwanted Furniture! consists of an open-source digital catalogue that provides 10 step-by-step circular and sustainable design strategies to extend the life cycle of old, broken or obsolete objects. The 10 circular strategies were visualized by means of an exhibition consisting of 20 objects (half of which were refurbished by young designers) presented at the Milan Design Week 2023.
