Details

The Ederbergland Halle (now the Philipp Soldan Forum) from the 1980s is located not far from the old town centre in Frankenberg. It serves as an event and conference centre for the entire region. The brick building has an L-shaped floor plan and mono-pitched roofs. The building was well known and regularly used, but it was worn, cluttered and in need of renovation. The main objective was to create a calm and warm atmosphere that fully utilised the potential of the existing building. In doing so, the building was to be subtly changed without neglecting the existing structure.

The Jury‘s Statement

This event hall impresses with its subtle transformation, creating a calm and warm atmosphere. The original architecture is respected while the interior is revitalized through targeted adjustments. The »Philipp Soldan Forum, Germany« demonstrates how existing structures can be modernly interpreted to be both functional and aesthetically appealing.
