Pole Forest completes the entrance of the Marriot Hotel in the TUM´s research center in Garching. There, in the high moor, grew the thale cress, which could be fond of a complete sequenced genome: basis for the poles´ pattern. Anywhere there are ghosts – so the Thais. Building a house means building a house for the ghosts too, so they feel good and bring luck. Our installation builds a bridge to the roots of Garching, the high moor, and at the same time represents a metaphor for luck.
The Jury‘s Statement
The entrance area of the Marriott Hotel in Garching captivates with a fascinating installation of atmospherically illuminated long poles reminiscent of reeds and featuring a special pattern inspired by the sequenced genome of the bog plant Acker-Schmalwand. A beautiful reference to the moorland that was located at this site in earlier times.
