This ground floor installation is part of the re-conversion of a carriage house in the West Village into a flexible space with a surprise. The space was used as a studio during 30 years by a local artist who carved out its own skylight out of the roof of the space. Unable to save the skylight during renovation, we wanted to create an architecture that generate echoes with the former use of the space. Called sunken garden, the inverted patio is an art intervention in itself. It brings light to the space and allow for an upper garden to hover the space to be viewed through the portal created.
