Details
Bielefeld's Jahnplatz was redesigned as part of a climate-friendly mobility strategy and equipped with 25 floating "night suns" on a filigree cable system. These specially designed luminaires made of painted fibreglass and metal structures with integrated light sources provide dynamic staging, create orientation and identity through RGBW lighting. Floating light rings emphasize the important urban axis between the new and old town.
The Jury‘s Statement
The lighting design for “Jahnplatz Bielefeld” creates an atmospheric visual connection between the new and old town by integrating seemingly floating rings of light. In addition to white light, the RGBW lighting can also shine in color, giving the installation a poetic power. A beautiful idea that significantly enhances the cityscape.
