Details
Co-designed by the Oval Partnership and HK Timberbank, “The Scents and the Soil” is a sculptural concierge counter crafted from salvaged wood of a 400-year-old camphor tree. Upcycled with eco-friendly methods, it minimises waste and emissions, embodying circular design. Using 3D scanning and Rhino software, six asymmetrically hand-milled trunk sections reveal heartwood patterns, evoking a lady’s dancing hemline. Blending storytelling and function, it emits a calming scent and draws from the proverb “Distant fragrance announces the noble.” Shortlisted for the FRAME Awards 2024 “Furniture of the Year,” it redefines sustainable art and design.
