Details

The focus of the overall concept is on sustainability through reduction. Sustainable measures are implemented in all areas of the sales floor (2,500 m²). Natural insulating materials and low-CO₂ concrete were used during construction, there is a photovoltaic system with battery storage on the roof and the waste heat from the Waterloop refrigeration system is used to heat the store. Everything superfluous has been omitted from the architecture, shopfitting and store design. As a partner for shopfitting, store design and refrigeration, we have developed and implemented innovative solutions for the requirements in terms of sustainability.

The Jury‘s Statement

The future-oriented “EDEKA Future Market in Nauen” shows how a clear step towards environmentally friendly retail architecture can be made not only through the conscious use of natural materials and resource-saving technologies, but also by dispensing with anything superfluous. The fact that the design is nevertheless modern and appealing and offers a pleasant shopping atmosphere underlines the sustainable approach.
