Details

The E. Wedel Chocolate Factory signage resembles a box of chocolates. Cubes of different thicknesses, praline colours, and patterns inspired by Wedel’s iconic sweets guide the museum visitors from the ticket offices to the roof terrace. The curvy wood texture resembles dark chocolate, while the colourful tiles seem to be covered with sweet icing. The icons present the crucial museum functions, and their playful style helps even smaller children to navigate. Directional signage ensures efficient movement around the facility. Signs use glass and concrete walls, ceiling suspension, and even floor lines wherever the directional decision is needed.

The Jury‘s Statement

The wayfinding and signage cleverly uses the iconic symbolism of chocolate to intuitively guide visitors through the “E. Wedel Schokoladenfabrik”. The combination of wooden structures and colorful tiles not only creates a visual connection to chocolate, but also ensures clear and playful orientation for all age groups.
