Julie Hiort

Julie Hjort speaks about participatory and user-centred design approaches – how design bridges human needs and unfolds its transformative power.

Director of Sustainable Transformation, Danish Design Centre | Julie Hjort leads the Danish Design Centre, driving the shift towards a circular economy through design. She has developed a design-based approach that serves as a key to mission-oriented innovation – and applies it in successful collaborations aimed at greater sustainability. With over a decade of experience in design, innovation, and transformation, Julie works in interdisciplinary teams and public-private partnerships. As Chair of Maker, a platform for physical entrepreneurship, she supports an urban prototyping lab in Copenhagen. She holds an MA in Contemporary Culture and Dissemination from the University of Copenhagen.
