Anne Bansen
Anne Bansen completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Business and Technology in the subject industrial design, gaining a distinction. She also undertook numerous internships, for example at the Fraunhofer Center for Responsible Research & Innovation (CeRRI), the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin research centre for material and energy, and at the Brose innovation workshop for car parts. In her work, she focuses on universal design and user experience, whereby the topic of safety in daily life plays an important role. Examples of her work to date, such as the »NoMo« the emergency monster, the smart pill tin »Pillbuddy« and »Tast(e) Food« (packaging from whose surface it is possible to feel whether the food within has become spoiled), provide impressive evidence of how vast her design potential and talent is.
David Chipperfield
The world of modern architecture has been not only immensely enriched but also positively influenced by Sir David Chipperfield's iconic, unmistakably stand-out building projects around the globe. His architectural style, defined by Japanese clarity, runs like a thread through the British architect's impressive life's work, for which he has received numerous international awards, the Federal Cross of Merit in Germany and was raised to the peerage by the Queen of England. These honours are not bestowed solely through a pleasing formal language. Rather, the designs spring from a profoundly humanistic spirit, which above all has the people in mind who fill the buildings and projects he conceives with life in the first place. A sympathetic, symbiotic approach that inextricably links each design with location and culture long before the groundbreaking ceremony and also takes the issue of sustainability into account. The fact that David Chipperfield is one of the first signatories for the "UK Architects Declare Climate and Biodiversity Emergency" initiative makes this attitude even more credible.
- Curriculum Vitae
Sir David Chipperfield CBE, RA, RDI, RIBA British, born 1953, London
David Chipperfield studied architecture at the Kingston School of Art and Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. After graduating he worked at the practices of Douglas Stephen, Richard Rogers and Norman Foster.
He established his own practice in London in 1985, and later established offices in Berlin (1998), Shanghai (2005) and Milan (2006). Together, the four offices drive common architectural ambitions and share a commitment to the collaborative aspect of creating projects and finding solutions that are architecturally, socially, and intellectually coherent.David Chipperfield Architects has built over 100 projects including cultural, residential, commercial and educational buildings for both the private and public sectors, as well as civic projects and urban masterplans. Among the practice’s
major completed works are the rebuilding of the Neues Museum and the new-build James-Simon-Galerie, both on Museum Island in Berlin; the reconfiguration of the Royal Academy of Arts in London; the Amorepacific headquarters building in Seoul; two residential towers in Hoxton, east London; the Turner Contemporary gallery and The Hepworth Wakefield, in the UK; an MBA building for the HEC Paris School of Management in France; Saint Louis Art Museum in Missouri; Museo Jumex in Mexico City; the One Pancras Square office building in London; and a new practice campus on Joachimstraße in Berlin. This year the practice celebrated the public openings of the refurbished Neue Nationalgalerie by Mies van der Rohe in Berlin, and the significant extension to the Kunsthaus Zurich. The practice’s work has received international awards and citations for design excellence, including the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2007 for The Museum of Modern Literature in Marbach, Germany, and both the Mies van der Rohe Award (European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture) and the Deutscher Architekturpreis in 2011 for the Neues Museum, Berlin.
Current projects include the transformation of the former US Embassy building in London, a high-rise headquarters for Rolex USA in New York; the restoration and reconfiguration of the Procuratie Vecchie on St. Mark’s Square in Venice; the transformation of a former administrative building into a mixed-use development on Avenue Morland in Paris; a new music venue in Edinburgh; a mixed-use commercial tower in Hamburg; and a university campus in Padua.
From the beginning of his career, David Chipperfield has also been interested in the design and function of interior spaces, including shop interiors for Issey Miyake, Joseph, Dolce & Gabbana, Bally, Brioni and Valentino, as well as a range of furniture, lighting, and tableware. David Chipperfield’s Tonale range of ceramics for Alessi received the Compasso d’Oro in 2011, and the Piana folding chair was acquired for the permanent collection at MoMA.
