THE MIGRATORY BIRDS’ WADDEN SEA

THE MIGRATORY BIRDS’ WADDEN SEA

Description

The exhibition, THE MIGRATORY BIRDS’ WADDEN SEA by JAC studios in collaboration with Jason Bruges Studio and No Parking, opens the gate to the Danish UNESCO World Heritage site. The design combines classic craftsmanship with technological innovation to create a distinct and diverse universe. Large-scale projections, original watercolours, 1:1 castings of the seabed and the installation, Digital Ornithology gives visitors a unique dialogue with the 12 million migrating birds of the Wadden Sea.

Statement of the jury

The wonderfully holistically designed exhibition presents the topic in a very clean, clear and focussed manner, skilfully combining state-of-the-art technology with analogue design elements. The result is an impressive, visual and poetic journey to the migratory birds of the Wadden Sea. From the first to the last exhibit – including a simulation of a flock of birds taking flight created with more than 500 LCD monitors suspended from the ceiling – visitors are not merely bombarded with facts. Rather, the exhibition packs the information into a consistently enthralling and fascinating story.
