Central Park Observation Tower Proposal

Description
DFA’s design for the Central Park Observation Tower – the world’s tallest timber structure – transforms the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir into a non-toxic, people and habitat-friendly pond in the heart of New York City’s largest park. With the public’s best interest in mind, it is both a recreational amenity and a productive infrastructural investment.
Statement of the jury
A fascinating landmark – one that’s also an impressive symbol of environmental protection and sustainability.
