Schillergymnasium, Münster

Description

The Schiller-Gymnasium is situated in a quarter of Münster shaped by its 19th century villas. The original building was expanded during the 1960s and 70s. The aim of the renovation to the 70s extension was, to give the building a new envelope and finally establish a balance between itself and its surroundings. The new appearance was achieved with the specially developed clinker–consisting of yellow and grey shards covered with a whitish glaze adopting the colour- scheme of the adjacent buildings.

The tonal reconciliation of the façade and the surrounding buildings has succeeded in an elegant and classy manner.
