SHANGHAI PALACE CINEMA
Description
Any kind of movie needs to have a story before production. Stories are portrayed as a storyboard to illustrate the composition of each scene of the film, a crucial step in the filmmaking process. The designers use a square to convey the storyboard concept. Squares can be assembled neatly to form an orderly pattern, or create unique forms by various overlapping methods. Square shapes remind people of traditional filmmaking technique, using rolls of film to capture the images frame by frame.
Statement of the jury
The classic storyboard is based on a grid of rectangles, in which the sequence of the film is pre-planned in renderings of key scenes. These grids have been translated into a fascinating interior. The grid mats cutting through the space lend it a dynamic effect.
