Hotel Gailerhof Welsberg

Description
The Hotel Gailerhof is located at 1,200 metres above sea level in a panoramic position in Welsberg, South Tyrol. The combination of the materiality of the building with the generous balconies, which filter the landscape from the rooms, thus creating a high-quality outdoor area; the lack of a roof overhang with an off-centre ridge; and the offset, larch wood facade with wood from the nearby forest create an identity which optimally integrates the building into the landscape.
Statement of the jury
The front-facing wooden balcony construction connects with the natural landscape of the region and expands the living space to the outdoors. The vertically-arranged wooden planks integrated into the balcony structure create a front-facing facade that not only provides a distinctive face for the hotel through the partial division of the grating, but also breaks up the facade in an attractive way.
