Neubau Quartier Johannis in Nürnberg

Description

The building is located on an important spot at the entrance of the St. Johannis’ quarter. The three city-facing façades are protecting the rather open south side with its private and community gardens. The project combines, through its high density, an urban attitude, sculptural force with a high living standard. The outside impression of social and private financed housing is the same. It was intentional to not show any difference between them.

Statement of the jury

While the building blends into the architectural surroundings harmoniously with its clearly structured façade, it reveals a sculptural quality at the back with its extensive exposed areas that are very appealing.
