No Footprint House

Description

The prototype of the No Footprint House (NFH) is located along the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The building responds to its surrounding humid tropical habitat through passive climate control in terms of natural ventilation and solar shading. The design of the prototype is based on a systemic toolbox of residential typologies that are prefabricated with selected components and materials. The respective buildings can thus be configured in response to client-specific requirements.

Statement of the jury

The design combines the natural climate with the best possible quality of living. The result is a spacious building, which appears pleasantly open, light and welcoming and which blends harmoniously into the original landscape of Costa Rica.
