Sanya Farm Lab

Description

The form of the Farm Lab is drawn from a number of inspirations including the traditional houses of the Hainan Li minority; the shape of the futuristic spacecraft Chang’e-4 Lander; and also botanical greenhouse structures. The solid laminated veneer lumber (LVL) structure with a point-fixing glass façade system takes full advantage of the natural benefit of the sun whilst also providing natural ventilation and sun shading.

Statement of the jury

The regular structure consisting of rhombus patterns, combined with its high transparency, endows the formally clear building with an iconic, unmistakeable aesthetic, which at the same time also appears very modern.
