Bette Westera, Sylvia Weve – Seks is niks geks

Description
In Seks is niks geks (Sex is not silly) Bette Westera and Sylvia Weve discuss sexuality in people and animals in a light-hearted way for children aged 11 and up. They look for appropriate and catchy names for our genitals, examine the genitals and sex life of different animal species, and encourage children to talk openly and comfortably about their own bodies and sexual discoveries, feelings, and questions.
Statement of the jury
The sex education book »Sex ist nichts Seltsames« (There's nothing strange about sex) by Bette Westera and Sylvia Weve is intended to encourage children from the age of 11 to talk openly and without shame or embarrassment about their own bodies and their own sexual discoveries, feelings and questions. For this purpose, the creators came up with a special visual language that perfectly illustrates the didactic content in form and colour and at the same time interprets and comments on it in an original way. The relaxed and at the same time loving way in which the topic of sexuality is explained here so that children and young people feel addressed is remarkable and a valuable companion for the first steps on the path to adult life.
