Details
Where radiation research was once conducted, a new heart for international knowledge transfer now beats. The delicate historic concrete shell roof of the hall remains as a defining feature, blending the resource-efficient preservation of the existing structure with modern openness. The once closed structure was radically opened by a fully glazed west facade with a sculpturally curved expanded metal sunshade. Inside, the glass lecture hall for 400 people floats freely above the light-filled, welcoming foyer with an integrated café. Additionally, two-story light voids guide valuable natural light deep into the flexible, divisible seminar rooms.
