Schutzdach Koksofenbatterie Zollverein

A delicate roof shelters the industrial heritage site’s 600-meter-long machine from the elements while emphasizing its linearity. The design intervenes only minimally in the existing fabric: its height, proportions, and structure preserve the visual integrity of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The finely perforated roof, punctuated by light wells, echoes the openings in the furnace tops, while beneath it, visitors can experience the scale and rhythm of the complex.
