Details

This project redefines collective housing in Kyoto as infrastructure for sustaining regional craftsmanship. Tile, stone, metal mesh, washi and plaster, produced by nine principal craft collaborators, are embedded as integral architectural elements rather than applied as decoration. By linking craft production directly to construction and everyday living, the project positions housing development as a platform for commissioning craft. All 29 units were sold, and the approach is already being extended to a subsequent project.
