Details
Set on a prominent corner within a Cologne block, this new home replaces a post-war building from the Adenauer era. It carefully picks up the lines and rhythms of its surroundings, yet expresses its own identity through warm materials and restrained detailing. Inspired by Japanese spatial ideas, the flexible layout features tactile surfaces like clinker brick, wood, and lime plaster. Sliding doors allow gentle zoning, while a mature magnolia shapes the patio atmosphere. Built with a low-tech, sustainable mindset, the house offers calm, light-filled spaces within the vibrant fabric of the city.
The Jury‘s Statement
Distinctive material choices and a flexible spatial concept define »Haus GOE«. The ensemble integrates harmoniously into the urban context and sets a clear accent through subtle detailing and refined zoning. Sustainable construction with a low-tech approach is as convincing as the open, light-filled interiors. Outstanding is the consistent synthesis of flexibility, aesthetic clarity and responsible urban development.
