Details

The «Gründlehof», a typical regional single farmstead from the 17th century and a cultural monument under § 2 DSchG, was renovated to accommodate modern living needs while minimally altering the original, largely preserved historical structure. Formerly agricultural areas were carefully transformed into spaces of high residential quality. The historically low ceiling heights were compensated by selective openings in the floor slabs. The three-story connection between the kitchen on the ground floor and the living area in the attic serves as the centrepiece of the house.

The Jury‘s Statement

The careful renovation and conversion of the ‘Gründlehof’ shows how historical substance can be preserved and contemporary living space created. The combination of kitchen and living area over three storeys forms a lively centre that respects the original character of the former small farm and at the same time meets modern living requirements.
