Details
This project is the new Oncology Building of the Interbalkan Medical Centre in Thessaloniki. The design, in plan, follows the lines of the original building, reversing the curvature. Fluid and elegant, the interior spaces become inviting and warm, putting the visitors and patients at ease. A lot of importance and care has been given to the patient treatment spaces. In most hospitals, these areas are generic and cold. We, however, designed spaces that feel more like a hotel than a hospital, in an attempt to put patients at ease as much as possible. Natural light and ventilation, as well as colour, were considered to be particularly important.
The Jury‘s Statement
The new oncology building of the Interbalkan Medical Centre impresses with its special curvature, which creates a harmonious floor plan. The tastefully designed interiors offer a warm, inviting atmosphere that has a positive influence on the healing process. The patient-friendly treatment rooms set exemplary standards in hospital design.
