Details
Bamboo is known for its strength and flexibility and is typically used in its original form as poles in structures. However, variations in growth conditions make it difficult to use consistently. "Porosity" aims to combine the concept of "engineered wood" by incorporating bamboo composites. It reinterprets bamboo's potential by layering thin veneer sheets both vertically and horizontally, resulting in a lightweight and resilient material. By using computational tools, these properties open up new design possibilities, highlighting bamboo's potential for complex structures.
The Jury‘s Statement
The pavilion stands out for its innovative use of bamboo composites, combining strength and flexibility. By layering veneer sheets, a lightweight material is created that enables complex structures. The use of modern technologies expands design possibilities and highlights bamboo's potential in the architectural context.
