Details
After years of vacancy, the former Siemens high-rise, completed in 1964, will be meticulously refurbished and expanded with the addition of two new buildings. This has resulted in the creation of an energy-efficient mixed-use office ensemble. The project focuses on preserving much of the existing building structure, with a careful refurbishment and enhancement of the supporting framework. The new façade design pays homage to the original look, effectively connecting the past with the future.
The Jury‘s Statement
The design for the redevelopment of the former Siemens high-rise in Munich leads the building, which has been vacant for years, into a sustainable future with new and expanded uses. The fact that the appearance of the building, which is so characteristic of the district, has been preserved to the greatest possible extent shows how much respect was shown for the historic building stock in the planning and design of this project.
