Details
On behalf of GSG, a new sustainably oriented logistics and production hall in wood hybrid construction is being built in Berlin-Tempelhof on the industrial site of the former Philips factory. The energetically self-sufficient, climate-friendly building, which is aiming for BREEAM certification, is based on the listed ensemble in terms of its cubature and materiality, but its design is contemporary. Warm wood tones and large-format translucent surfaces define the architectural language. Rendering: XOIO.
The Jury‘s Statement
The new ULL73 logistics hall, built using a timber hybrid construction method on an industrial site in Berlin-Tempelhof, is self-sufficient in terms of energy. The color of the wood-clad facade establishes a relationship with the neighboring listed clinker brick buildings and thus blends homogeneously into the historic surroundings.
