Details
deSter launched a fully reusable Economy class tableware concept for Etihad. All trays, bowls, lids, and hot meal casseroles are now part of a closed-loop system. Eliminating the use of single-use plastics on board and reducing waste to a minimum. At the end of their lifecycle, the products are collected, washed, ground, and reused to make the same product whilst keeping a high-class dining experience. Parallel to all sustainable efforts, no compromises were allowed in design and functionality.
The Jury‘s Statement
The tableware developed for the Etihad airline is fully reusable and part of a closed cycle. This means that the raw materials are retained at the end of the product's life for the manufacture of new identical products, which reduces waste and CO2.
