The Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park is shaped by ice age. Some 115,000 years ago the glaciers carried stone, gravel and sand into the area, leaving behind a variety of soil structures. These produced wildly different habitats that provide a home for numerous animals and plants. The permanent exhibition at Storkow Castle helps visitors get to the bottom of this diversity and bring the region’s secrets to the surface. Throughout six habitat zones the visitors discover the fascinating nature and realizes that it is the soil – from dry and dusty to wet and waterlogged –that forms the basis of biodiversity.
