This serene retirement home reflects a senior couple’s shared passions of Literature through a design inspired by the structure of classical Chinese narrative (起承轉合). The layout guides movement from entrance to study, bedroom, kitchen, and dining, mirroring the fluidity of reading. The arc is reminiscent of the curvature of a rolled paper. The living room and study are separated by a sturdy bookcase, balancing lightness and openness. Light and shadow play on the ceiling adds literary magic, while visual elements inspired by Chinese character "冊" (books) expresses warmth and humanism.

A striking spatial dramaturgy, inspired by the structure of classical Chinese storytelling, defines »The Fragrance of Life«. Flowing lines and carefully orchestrated lighting create a harmonious, almost poetic atmosphere. The subtle transitions between zones and the robust bookshelf as a central element are particularly impressive. The execution convincingly demonstrates how personal experience and aesthetic quality merge within sustainable residential architecture.
