Details

In the context of the conversion of the church into a columbarium with seminar rooms, the existing spatial proportions are scaled & recoded. The pointed arch-shaped contour of the room is shifted inwards by carefully inserted space-creating elements & defines an axial sequence of spaces from the baptismal fountain to the water surface in front of the brass wall with the historical cross. A baldachin-like sculpture hovers above the urn walls. It creates a pleasant & auratic place of transcendence.

The Jury‘s Statement

The way the design for the columbarium interprets the forms and structures of classic church architecture in a modern and creative way is extraordinary and gives the premises a special atmosphere. Very beautifully solved.
