Details

Rørbæk og Møller Arkitekter and Christensen & Co designed and realized the Life Science & Bioengineering project, which won first prize in an architectural competition. The building houses around 800 employees and includes laboratories, teaching facilities, office spaces, a conference centre, and decentralized areas for canteens, lounges, and cafés, as well as some of the most advanced laboratory facilities in Europe. The architecture unites all functions and research wings, enabling frequent interdisciplinary interaction among building users.

The Jury‘s Statement

The university building impresses with its innovative spatial composition, which promotes interdisciplinary encounters and creates an inviting atmosphere. The well thought-out interior design cleverly combines light and materials, particularly wood, while the flexible design of the ceilings enables dynamic use of the space. DTU Life Science & Bioengineering” thus sets new standards in the field of university architecture.
