Details
The concept was "Timeless" - bringing new value with each passing moment - because of the historic and future-oriented nature of the area. The distinctive large-roof design is a landmark of the area, harmonizing with the beauty of the ridge line of Mt. Akagi. The colour of the lights, which are linked to the natural light, expresses the changing nature of the sky. The interior is zoned by future and history. The stratigraphic wall and constellation lighting were designed to represent "time".
The Jury‘s Statement
The combination of dynamic design language and atmospheric lighting lends the architecture a progressive aesthetic from the outside as well as the inside. The fact that the design at the same time also leaves room for the past and makes it emotionally palpable accounts for the high design quality of this formally and functionally excellently solved design.
