The U5 Arenen station combines sustainable mobility with a clear, resource-efficient architectural concept. A wide-span suspended timber roof defines the design and covers the station without intermediate supports. Its form-active structure enables large spans with minimal material use. The active roof integrates photovoltaics to generate energy, while daylight reaches deep into the platforms and reduces the need for artificial lighting. Durable, demountable construction and rainwater reuse complement the sustainability concept. The result is an open, distinctive place designed for both everyday use and major events.
