Confessions: New Design Talk Series Launches in Zurich

What is driving architecture today? This question is at the heart of Confessions of an Architect, a new talk format launched by the German Design Awards in collaboration with DAAily Platforms. The goal: to create a space for honest discussion – without glossy slides or rehearsed keynote speeches. The focus is on contradiction and the human side of design.
The premiere takes place in Zurich. It brings together two leading voices from the European architecture scene: Patrick Lüth, Managing Director of Snøhetta’s Innsbruck studio, and David Marquardt, founder of MACH Architektur. Moderated by Simon Keane-Cowell (Architonic), the conversation touches on the new demands placed on architecture – from sustainability and cultural context to collaborative working methods.
“When I enter a building, I don’t analyze – I feel. If it moves me, then it works.” – David Marquardt

Both architects emphasize: atmospheric quality, social relevance, and cultural understanding are more important today than ever. Architecture is teamwork – with users, craftspeople, and everyone involved in the project. It needs leadership that doesn’t dominate but enables.
Confessions is more than just a new talk format: it’s an invitation to real exchange – open, international, and relevant. It runs alongside the call for entries for the German Design Awards and supports its mission: Connecting Global Excellence. The next edition will take place during the 3DD (3 Days of Design) in Copenhagen.
