Details
The German Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is a built manifesto for circular architecture. Designed as a material repository, its seven cylindrical structures integrate bio-based and recycled materials, modular timber systems, and a reusable steel foundation—eliminating concrete and enabling full disassembly. From rammed earth to mycelium, every element supports a cradle-to-cradle strategy. The pavilion sets a new benchmark for scalable, adaptive architecture that unites material innovation, ecological intelligence, and fully regenerative design.
The Jury‘s Statement
Circular construction is implemented consistently here: »Wa! Germany« impresses with precise material selection, reversible construction principles and a landscape concept that fosters biodiversity. The modular, cylindrical structures made of bio-based and recycled materials make a powerful statement for future-oriented public architecture. The project demonstrates how sustainable design, ecological intelligence and material culture merge at the highest level.
