Details

The Project reimagines the reconstruction of a fire-damaged residential building as a real-world laboratory for regenerative construction. The timber structure is combined with hemp in almost every layer of the building – as insulation, loose fill, boards and masonry blocks – and complemented by clay. Together with manufacturers, contractors and specialist planners, partly novel and not yet established assemblies are being developed and tested. The aim is to create cement-free, repairable and separable constructions with low embodied energy that demonstrate the potential of fast-growing materials and serve as a model for future projects.
