Details
ONE SAPPORO STATION TOWER is a 48-storey residential tower directly connected to Sapporo Station. Two layers of aluminum panels with Bézier-shaped perforations form a double skin, creating a moiré pattern that shifts with the sun and the viewer’s position; on snowy days, flickering shadows of snowflakes filter through the openings. Inspired by the Kōshi lattice of Kyoto machiya—closed by day, luminous by night—the same perforated language continues inside, from the underground connection to the 29th-floor Sky Lounge and even the door handles. Recycled aluminum, Sapporo soft stone, lime plaster, timber and moss anchor the tower to its place.
